Dougherty Area Regional Transportation Study (DARTS) is updating its Metropolitan Transportation Plan. The study will assess the existing transportation network, gather community feedback, update goals, objectives, and transportation priorities for the MPO region, and produce a report that includes a prioritized, cost-constrained list of projects that will be implemented over the next twenty-five years.

DARTS will be hosting it first public workshop meeting regarding the study on February 28, 2019 starting 6:00 PM at 240 Pine Suite 300 Albany, GA 31701. The public is invited to learn more about the project and provide feedback. For additional details contact Kerrie Davis – 229-438-3920 or

 Study Background and Geographic Area

The Dougherty Area Regional Transportation Study (DARTS) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the urbanized area of the City of Albany, Dougherty County, and the southern half of Lee County.  DARTS is responsible for the development of a Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) which is required before federal funds can be expended on a project within the DARTS study area boundary.  The LRTP process involves the coordination of the improvements for all modes of transportation for the upcoming 25 year period including highways, bridges, transit, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, airports, highway and rail freight accommodations, Intelligent Transportation Systems, and transportation system enhancements. The planning requirements include a technical planning process plus stakeholder committee and community involvement.
